Funny Old Word

Started by: dostaf (inactive)

Usage: This word was formerly considered to be taboo, and it was labelled as such in previous editions of Collins English Dictionary. However, it has now become acceptable in speech, although some older or more conservative people may object to its use

Also heard a term relating to something some body not being worth a 'chew of bacca' or 'not worth a chew'.

Wiginism, not Star Wars lingo. (Even in a certain pub )

Perhaps ultimately from obsolete (Comment removed because it broke the rules), wad of expectorated chewing tobacco or tobacco juice : gob + dialectal (Comment removed because it broke the rules), excrement

IS it a word Father Jack used to describe the Dribbler?

I am STILL laughing at that.

It is a word that Father Jack used when he became lucid and identified Father Ted.

Very comical word. (Maybe too naughty)

But so is that one called Jonathan Ross, hence not linked.

Good read, all the same.

That 'Mrs Brown' show is pushing it a bit.

No need for such crudities. Can be funny with tamer language.

Sorry Marie, the funny old word I referred to was used in a clip on another thread. Rather than 'usage'.

My first post up there is a definition copied and pasted from an online dictionary.

The naughty word contains eight letters.

Copy this link, Marie...

Post it in the address bar in another window, and there the word will be revealed.
(It's a bit rude. but not much).

The title of the thread 'funny old word' relates to a word I daren't print.

I thought you may have been under the impression that it referred to the word 'usage' itself.

In other words, I wondered if you thought I was suggesting 'usage' is a funny old word.

Ahhh.

Thing is is, where you put things into the box on the internet to search, someone can give you a page to look at as it were.

For example;

If I put Click on this

That film clip is already linked for you.

On the other hand, I could have put see this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSHaCzb3yYk

In which case you would need to put the info into the search box yourself.

Copy and paste is a quick way of copying text, rather than typing it out yourself.

It's done wiith the mouse, or touchpad, and left and right clicks.
